Details: The Mexico Housing Authority has invested nearly $8 million in capital improvements in its public housing developments in the last ten years. Those improvements were funded under HUD's Capital Fund Program. The Capital Fund Program involves a direct allocation to eligible housing authorities based on a formula which reflects the relative need for modernization funding. Every five years, the Mexico Housing Authority is required to do a complete physical and management needs assessment to be used as a basis of its five year plan for modernization which is submitted to HUD for approval. A planning committee consisting of a few staff members and resident leadership meet each year to update the modernization plan.
