Offering over 30 services to lower-income community members, Community Action’s real product is simple: Hope. Community Action is not merely a nonprofit social service agency. While many of our programs meet basic needs of people struggling to make ends meet, our purpose is to alleviate poverty and help people attain a level of self-sufficiency. As some would say, we are a trampoline, not just a safety net. Imagine the uncertainty of not knowing how to provide your family their next meal, the limitations of not being able to read a job application, the despondence associated with losing your home, or the fear of having a sick child and no health insurance to enable you to see a doctor…..these are the faces of Community Action of Skagit County. Every year, Community Action provides the tools to nearly 38,000 people to move beyond crisis and onto the pathways of self-sufficiency.
