Details: The Mt. Pleasant Housing Commission was created by the City of Mt. Pleasant through the adoption of City Ordinance #394 dated May 23, 1966. The Housing Commission was created in order to allow lower income families and individuals the opportunity to have safe, affordable, sanitary housing. The State of Michigan’s Public Act 18 establishes that the Housing Commission is autonomous (independent) from the City of Mt. Pleasant; therefore the Housing Commission is governed by its own five member Board of Commissioners.
